FAQ – Prospective students

1. Is International Business – Central European Business Realities (IB) MBA program?

No. International Business – Central European Business Realities is a two-year (four semesters) full-time Master’s Program taught in English. It means that you have to have your bachelor study completed.

Prague University of Economics and Business offers MBA programs in Czech, English and Czech/French language.

2. Which documents are needed for the application?

Firstly read carefully the information at the program website about the admission procedure.

A) Recognition/nostrification of the previous University degree. – general information.
Applicants for a study program at the Prague University of Economics and Business can apply for the internal recognition process. Information, requirements and submission of a request is available at the webportal https://edu.vse.cz/.

B)  E-application is made online and other information and instruction available at the website – always updated in the relevant Admission process.

3. Is there an entrance examination to IB?

Yes. We offer long distance exam.
It consists of
an In-depth personal interview with the committee on a business topic and evaluation of the assessment of aptitude for study – more details here.
The interview will be orgnanized online in the scheduled time in two periods – beginning of March and beginning of May. Applicants who complete their applications and documents by the given time (end of February, end of April) will be contacted with instructions.

5. Is there any administration fee?

Yes, EUR 50 / 1250 CZK must be paid by the date of the application deadline. The payment must be made according to the instructions received automatically via email upon registering an e-Application.

6. What is the exact cost of tuition for a semester?

 The tuition fee is 5000 € (EUR) per academic year.

Dormitory accommodation, if desired, is an additional approx 280 € (EUR)/month – differ from the location.

7. Can I apply for an IB (or University) scholarship?

The Prague University of Economics and Business does not provide any student grant. Students could apply for other grants, e.g. at the Visegrad Fund http://www.visegradfund.org/ .

Students having applied for the intergovernmental exchange program at the Czech Ministry of Education cannot use this grant for studying any study program with tuition fee within the Czech Republic.

8. Can someone help me get from the airport to the dorms?

The only way is to take part in the ESN VŠE Praha, which offers a Buddy program. The student can get in touch with a Czech student to help you. For more information about ESN VŠE Praha activities, check the webpage.

9. Where are the IB students accommodated and what does a meal plan include?

Most IB students who apply for accommodation live in the university dormitory, located in Prague – Jarov I. (It takes you 15 – 20 minutes by tram to get to the university campus.). For more information, please visit the webpage.  Meals are offered both – the dormitory and the university campus.

10. How I can apply for the accommodation at the dormitory?

Accepted students are informed about the application process in due time. Then a request for accommodation is submitted and sent a debit by a given deadline.

11. What will I need for living in the dormitory?

All that you will need for living in the dormitory (like sheets and desk lamp) will be provided to you by the dormitories. However, there are no dishes available in the dormitory kitchenettes. But even here the best strategy is to bring nothing and buy the potentially missing equipment cheaply in Prague. Information available at the web.

13. Can you help me apply for a legal stay in the Czech Republic?

The process of the application for the legal stay in the Czech Republic is fully in the student´s responsibility. We issue the document needed for the application from the university side, the other documents must be prepared by the student. We can help and assist to students by advising. 14. Can I have a job and study International Business program in the same time?

Yes, you can have a part-time job, but you have to follow the classes because the program International Business is full time. It’s preferable to have a job with some flexibility. The schedule of the classes is different every semester.

15. Where can I print, copy or scan documents at the university?

First of all you need to charge money to your ID card – there is an automat by the PC rooms on the first floor of the Old building or you can go to SB 22 (ID card department).

Copy/scan in the VŠE Library (the central library) which is located in the VŠE area in Žižkov, in the mezzanine of the Old building or room SB 100

16. Is there a possibility to do sport at the university?

15. I need a doctor´s help, what shall I do?

You can find contacts to a GP, a dentist and a gynecologist at the website.

16. Can I come in touch with current students to ask questions about the University, study, life etc.?
