Student has to apply for the legal stay in the Czech Republic at the embassy of the Czech Republic in the country of origin or current permanent stay. There is a possibility to apply for

=>  Long term visa for study purpose– approved length of max.1 year in the Czech Republic and before it expires the student must apply for a long term residence permit for the study purpose at the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior in the Czech Republic.

=>  Long term residence permit for study purpose – approved length usually 1 year then the student must apply for an extension of the residence permit at the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior in the Czech Republic.

We recommend applying for long residence permit for the study purpose of the legal stay in the Czech Republic immediately at the embassy of the Czech Republic. Find the detailed information at the website of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.

Please note that it is necessary to be physically present in the country where you submitted your application for the long term visa for study purpose at the time the visa is approved – it will be sticked up into your passport.

Prague University of Economics and Business/International Business office provides the confirmation of the acceptance and the confirmation of the accommodation in the Czech language according to the requirements and conditions of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.
Note: a confirmation of the accommodation is sent to the student who applied for the accommodation at the university dormitory in the application form! If the student makes his/her own arrangement of the accommodation he/she has to follow the rules of the conditions for this kind of document by his/her own.

The application procedure for obtaining a legal stay in the Czech Republic for study purposes can take up to 60 days since the application had been submitted to the local Czech Embassy (in particularly complicated cases can be extend up to 90 – 120 days). Please read the information below carefully and start your application procedure immediately after receiving information from our university about your acceptance. There are many documents you have to prepare in the required form of confirmations and conditions (i.e. verified copies, translations to the Czech language by an certified translator), collect and additionally you will receive also the documents from our university. Register for an appointment at the embassy in advance! If you wait until the documents arrive from us it is usually too late, too hard to get an appointment on time! There is a lack of places available.

Student solves the visa issue by his/her own. Important is to contact the local Czech Embassy or Consulate for details on Visa Application and read the instructions on filling in the application properly – all information including the contact to the embassy in your country. Czech Embassy in each country can have different requirements for the documents you have to submit, please read and follow the instructions properly!
Student is requested to prepared all required documents for submission of an application for a long term visa or long term residence permit for study purpose. Student should be aware of a possibility of an interview as a part of the application process at the embassy (then the knowledge of the details about the  university, program s/he is accepted for, accommodation place etc.)

Health insurance rules is very important topic, you are requested to arrange a comprehensive health care with an insurance company that is authorized to provide its services in the Czech Republic. The health insurance must cover a medical treatment in all cases, including a care associated with COVID-19.

Student Mode – fast tract for a submission of an application

VŠE can offer a service via Student Mode to students who have been officially accepted for studies at our university. The Student Mode can include newly accepted international students, who require a student visa / long term residence permit for the study purpose in the Czech Republic. Students who fulfil criteria and are successfully nominated receive a priority access for submission an application (and interview if the embassy arranges it in the same moment) at the Czech Embassy in the country, where they are applying for a long-term student visa / long term permit. A student nominated for the Student Mode does not need to register for an interview – he/she will be contacted by the Czech Embassy and will receive a fixed date for the interview. Important note: A nomination for the Student Mode is by no means a guarantee, that the student will actually receive a student visa. The Student Mode is only a fast track for submission of an applicantion.

Applicants for the Student Mode must be recommended by a relevant Programme coordinator at VSE. There is an internal process of a nomination to the Student Mode, only a responsible persons of VŠE can submit a nomination for the Student Mode to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.

Registration at the Foreign Police, Department for Asylum and Migration Policy (biometric data)

> Students with the long term visa for study purpose – register within 3 days after the arrival at the Foreign Police. In case you are accommodated at the dormitory – the announcement of your arrival is done by the dormitory. Study your duties after arrival to the Czech Republic here.

deals exclusively with foreign university students studying in Prague from countries outside the EU. Prior telephone reservation is necessary in order to get the appointment (tel. line 974 801 801).

ONLINE ORDER SERVICE: students can apply for an appointment for the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior online via website https://frs.gov.cz/en! The newcomers who need to schedule an appointment for taking the biometrical data and registration after arrival to the Czech Republic must use the phone line only.
Make sure to insert the valid passport number that you use for the application of the legal stay in the Czech Republic when you register to this portal!
This offer can be used by all students who apply for a long term residence permit (extension of the long term visa) or apply for extension of their long term residence permit for the study purpose for the next period of study in the Czech Republic!

Current students are expected to check and deal their legal stay in the Czech Republic by their own and in time.

All actual information, conditions for the extension of the study visa or long residence permit for the study purpose are available at the website of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.

The students who got approved the long term study visa (can not extend period of 1 year) must submit an application for a long term residence permit for study purpose at the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior. The application can be submitted at earliest 90 days and at latest a day before the period of validity or period of permitted stay in the territory expires.
The students who got approved the long term residence permit for the study purpose will apply for its extension. You have to submit an application for an extension of the long term residence permit at earliest 120 days and at latest the day before your current permit expires.

The International Business office will prepare the confirmation of study for the extension of the legal stay in the Czech Republic upon to a personal request.
The confirmation of the accommodation for students living at the dormitory is arranged by the dormitory manager upon to a request (Central accommodation office). The students who live at the private apartments have to arrange a confirmation about the accommodation in the required condition according to the instructions given at the website of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.

We strongly recommend to the students to follow the rules and conditions of the legal stay in the Czech Republic.
The main tasks: do not forget to report changes, do not forget to apply for the extension of your legal stay in the Czech Republic in time.

You are expected to cooperate with the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior in the period your application for extension stay is in the process. You may be contacted by mail = have your mail box well marked!, you may be called for additional information or for biometrical data -therefore your time plan should be discussed with the MoI in case you plan to leave the Czech Republic in that period.

Graduates must follow the rules and regulations given by the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior. Graduates lose the study statute and must leave the country or apply for a new/changed purpose of a stay in the Czech Republic – the application for another purpose of stay must be submitted before the valid stay for the study purpose expires!
Graduates can apply for an employee card if he/she has already got a long-term job contract, the other option is to apply for a long term for purpose of seeking employment or starting a Business, for Doing Business

A biometrical card must be returned to the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior in case you terminate your residence permit in the Czech Republic – please, look for the information and details of this requirement at the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior you belong to according to the place of your current stay.

In case you plan a change of purpose of the legal stay in the Czech Republic you should plan to submit the applicantion and required documents before your current permit expires.
